Ow ow ow ow ow ow…

Pop Quiz: What hurts after you spend three hours on all fours pulling staples out of 1500 square feet of subfloor?

Answer: Everything.

My back hurts, my legs hurt, I have blisters on both hands, my ankles are swollen, and my head aches. But at least that job is done. We’re ready for the carpet installation.

Only, the carpet isn’t coming until Tuesday. We had to get the furniture out and the old stuff ripped up last night because there is still another room to paint and this weekend is going to be busy with other projects. So now I have plywood floors lined with angry little carpet tacks, we can’t watch TV because of all the furniture piled in front of it, and my underwear is in the living room.

The girls have been riding their scooters from room to room and whooping it up at all the big empty space. The remaining floor that isn’t being replaced is wood so with the high ceilings and no carpet, the acoustics are very good. It’s sort of like living in a racquetball court.

I offered the old carpet for free on a classified site and someone is coming tomorrow to take it away. So we’re not cluttering up the landfill and we don’t have to pay to dump it. Bonus.

With those acoustics, I’ll bet you’re glad that you don’t own a dog… Barking all day INDOORS…

    Then again…

    OW! Stop hitting me!
