Stinking long meme…
I’ve started several posts lately but they don’t appear to be going anywhere or coming to much of a point so…time for another meme! This one is long, especially if you’re trying for clever every few questions. If you’re reading this and want to copy, feel free, but do post a link in comments so we can all see your version. The Question Meme (Is this an official name? I don’t know.) 1. What is your first name? In my quest for mysterious anonymity, I can’t say. But it’s not Layla. 2. Were you named after anyone? Yes, actually. My mom named my older sister so it was my dad’s turn with me. I am named after a famous actress he had a crush on at the time of my birth. She’s dead now, BTW, just one more reminder of how old I’m getting. 3. Do you wish on stars? Not anymore. When I was 14 and 15 I would wish on the first star religiously that a certain boy would notice me. He never did. 4. When did you last cry? Last week when Amy and I reached the end of Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. That scene in the graveyard where his parents come gets me every time. We were both bawling by the time we finished the chapter. 5. Do you like your handwriting? No! It’s horrible and the harder I try to make it pretty, the worse it gets. I have very crampy, sloppy handwriting, I could have been a doctor. 6. What is your favorite lunch meat? Hand-pulled, roasted turkey breast with cranberry-mayo. I don’t really like the prepackaged stuff, too salty. 7. What is your most embarrassing CD? I still have a copy of the Macarena, but you can’t tell anyone. 8. If you were another person, would you be friends with you? I doubt it. Most people’s first impression of me is that I’m either very shy or very stuck up. If I were someone else I’d probably automatically assume my other self was stuck up and wouldn’t give me the time of day. (Okay, that makes no sense, hopefully you get the idea.) 9. Do you have a journal? Yes, but I don’t write in it much. 10. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Only when I’m cranky. So yeah, a lot lately. 11. What are your nicknames? Don’t have any. 12. Would you bungee jump? No way. That free fall feeling is not my friend. And the whole almost-dying thing aside, I try to avoid the humiliation of wetting my pants whenever possible. 13. Do you untie your shoes before you take them off? Yes, but I rarely wear shoes with laces anymore. 14. Do you think that you are strong? Physically – No, I really need to get back into shape once this baby is born. Mentally – Yes. Emotionally – Sometimes. Spiritually – Working on it. 15. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Anything chocolate with no nuts. 16. Shoe size? 8 or 8.5, I have big feet for someone my height. 17. Red or pink? Red. 18. What is your least favorite thing about yourself? I don’t have enough self-discipline. Also, I am sometimes too judgmental and opinionated. 19. What do you miss most? Romance! My marriage has evolved into a loving and stable partnership, but I miss that feeling of being in love and totally crazy over someone. 20. Do you want everyone you send this to, to send it back? I’m not sending it to anyone, though if you’re reading it, consider yourself invited. 21. What color pants/shoes are you wearing? Maternity jeans and white cotton socks, no shoes. (I’m also wearing a green t-shirt, lest you think I blog topless.) 22. What are you listening to right now? My sister is playing “With or Without You” by U2 on her laptop just across the room. 23. Last thing you ate? Cadbury min-eggs left over from Easter. Mmmm! 24. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? What? I have no idea. Probably some shade of blue. 25. What is the weather like right now? According to Yahoo weather, it’s 42 degrees and mostly cloudy. Also dark. 26. Last person you talked to on the phone? Local carpet cleaner trying to drum up business. I’ve been getting a lot of telemarketing calls lately even though our number is on the national do not call list and it’s starting to annoy me. 27. The first thing you notice about the opposite sex? Height probably. I’ve always been attracted to tall men, though I married an average-sized one. 28. Do you like the person who sent this to you? I don’t know her personally but I liked her responses to these questions. In an egregious breach of blog etiquette, I closed my browser before copying her address and since it was a blog I’d never read before and didn’t bookmark, I don’t know how to get back to it. So, I’m sorry mystery blogger! I’d give you credit if I could. 29. Favorite drink? Ice cold water, with a straw. 30. Favorite sport? Figure skating. I don’t like team sports very much. 31. Do you wear contacts? Yes. 32. Favorite food? Chocolate, sugar snap peas, crusty bread. Lately I’ve been craving that white bakery cake with the icky white frosting — which I fully admit is icky. Go figure. 33. Last movie you watched? Good grief, I can’t even remember! Probably Walk the Line when we were in Vegas. I don’t watch a lot of movies when I’m home. 34. Favorite day of the year? Christmas Day when everyone is still sleepy and excited. 35. Scary movies or happy endings? Usually happy endings though I despise all the brainless happy endings in most family or romantic comedies. Definitely not scary movies though. My imagination is overactive enough. 36. Winter or summer? Neither, spring and fall get my vote. 37. Hugs or kisses? Hugs. 38. What is your favorite dessert? Anything chocolatey and decadent that is guaranteed to make me regret it later. 39. What books are you reading? Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix with Amy; Junie B. Jones and the Yucky Blucky Fruitcake with Mia; The Good Wife, by Stewart O’Nan; 20 Letters to a Friend, by Svetlana Alliluyeva; Web Marketing for Dummies; and the Ultimate Guide to Google Adwords. The last two are for work. 40. What’s on your mouse pad? Uh, the mouse. Oh! You mean graphically? Pictures of water drops. 41. What did you watch on TV last night? Tivo’d episode of Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel. Suddenly I have a whole new respect for crab. 42. Favorite smells? Freshly plowed dirt, pine trees, new babies, bread baking. 43. Favorite sound? My daughters giggling together. 44. Rolling Stones or Beatles? Neither. 45. What’s the furthest you’ve been from your home? Across the country. I’ve never been out of the U.S., a fact I am loathe to admit. 46. Do you have a special talent? I don’t know if special is the right word, but I’m a pretty good writer and seamstress. 47. What is your ring tone? Melody 1 that came with the phone. Melody 1, people. I’ve had this phone for five months and I haven’t even explored Melodies 2-6, there’s no way I’m going to actually download a custom ring tone.
