And that was…not too bad.
Huh. Went back to the dentist yesterday full of fear and apprehension and was in the chair for literally 10 minutes. He made sure the crown wasn’t slipping (it hadn’t, it was just too long) then he whittled some off the bottom, polished it up, and I was good to go. Dental work has always freaked me out, especially the whole needle-in-the-gums thing, but I’ve had so many problems with my teeth that I’ve had to get over most it. Even so, I wasn’t looking forward to more adjustments. Pregnancy wrecks havoc in my mouth and weak enamel runs in my family so it’s been somewhat of a losing battle, though I’ve done pretty well with this baby. I am a fanatic about brushing and flossing and fluoride and it does help. That’s enough of that. I’m sick of dentists and doctors and needles and exams and the fun hasn’t even started yet - hello, baby boy due in five weeks. It’s Saturday, what used to be house day. Before we got cable, Saturdays around here were the day for PBS home improvement shows like This Old House and its clones. But now that we have HGTV, Fine Living, TLC, et al, it’s all home improvement all week! Our favorites are Flip This House and Buy Me. We don’t like the cheap, found stuff at the flea market and aren’t we clever kind of projects, we like the expensive, big money, second mortgage, bury yourself in debt kind of renovations. Yeah. One thing that annoys me though is how everyone on TV yaks endlessly about their love of entertaining. Buyers simper over a large deck because it would be “great for entertaining.” Homeowners conducting a kitchen remodel will claim to want a big counter area because “We love to entertain and this will be a perfect place for drinks.” Yada, yada, yada. I’ll bet the majority of these people don’t “entertain” nearly as often as they claim and just once I want to see a grumpy homeowner proudly declare an utter loathing for it. I want to see someone in sweatpants conducting a tour of their awesome pool, hot tub, and enormous BBQ area all the while proclaiming, “I built this for me. Mine, all mine. People try to come over but I lock the doors and set the dogs on them. ” That would be some good TV.

I would totally watch that. In fact, that could be me.
