Starting the countdown
Now that the costumes are finished I can jump into Christmas preparations. This year is going to be a little different because we were assigned a different track at school and the girls have their break before Christmas rather than after. In fact, they go off track tomorrow and are off until January 2. I am of two minds about this. On one hand, it will be nice to attend the umpteen million* parties, recitals, and other sundry gatherings during December without having to worry about it being a school night. We can stay out late enjoying the magic of the season and we can do our shopping and make our obligatory visit to the mall Santa during the day when everything is less crowded. However, having them home severely cuts into my secret time and it’s going to be a lot harder this year to get all the shopping done on the sly. Thank goodness for extended retail hours, I guess. *This year we have four (4!) dance recitals, three family parties, two corporate events, one choir concert, and one night of piano caroling…and a partridge in a pear tree.
