Not happening to me
Being somewhat of a first-world, Me Generation, self-centered brat, I start to feel very put upon when something happens in my life that is not rainbows and sunshine and milk chocolate truffles. Taken as a whole, I probably have about the same ratio of bad to good as most anyone else but I don’t usually remember that. When I’m in the middle of something icky, I whine and moan and conveniently forget that bad happens to everyone. So lately whenever I’ve heard of something bad happening to someone else, I feel sorry about it, but I also try to let it register. That is not happening to me. I am not dealing with that right now. It has made a difference in how I view my world. Not that I’ll stop complaining, of course. But a little perspective never hurts.

I think we all tend to be wrapped up in our own problems…so good for you for trying recognizing that everyone goes through rough patches. Perspective is always a good thing.
