Well hello there, my little chickadees.

So, HI! I’m back.

Sort of.

Here’s the thing…I recently passed my two year blog anniversary, which got me started thinking about the blog and reading through old entries and I realized that I was getting too worked up over hits and clicks and links and comments - GAH, the COMMENTS!!

And I figured there’s enough other stress going on in my life right now without obsessing over how many readers I have, or whether a certain post was funny enough, or if I was finally going to break into double digits on the comments, or what relatively innocuous thing I’d said that would result in a “You SUCK” email.

To be honest, the blog really hasn’t taken off like I was hoping it would. I’m not sure why some bloggers can write complete drivel and become wildly popular while other bloggers can write complete drivel and barely make a dent. And as much as I’d like to be an uber-blogger, I’m definitely in the NOT category at the moment.

So, I decided to step back for a while to figure out if I’m blogging because I like blogging or if I’m doing it because I want to sit at the popular table. Because that’s a pretty big distinction and if I missed it enough I’d keep going but if it was just a big relief, I was prepared to chuck it all.

Obviously I missed it.

Kinda.

It’s been nice to not have this one more thing to keep track of and worry about and do. But I’ve also missed writing and I’ve missed you guys. (Hopefully some of you are still there.)

So I’m back. But - I have vowed to write what I feel like, when I feel like it and not let myself get all squicked again about stats. Because it’s just not worth it.

If you are reading this apparently you were willing to wait it out with me. I appreciate that more than I can say. You people are awesome, every single one of you. (Except for the “You Suck” guy. And BTW, Ditto, dude!)

There’s been a lot going on in the Laylabean household over the past month. My immediate plan is to go back and write about the highlights (and a few lowlights) in a hopefully not too cloying manner so eventually this will be caught up and in 10 years from now my daughters won’t accuse me of neglecting their big important events.

So - cheers! I’ve missed you.

    Happy to see you back!!

Try not to let the stats bother you. Sometimes I, too, think about my comments and get in the mood to type things like, SAY SOMETHING, PEOPLE, but it passes. I have to remind myself that I have a tendency to lurk, as well.

Looking forward to hearing what you’ve been up to.

I’m definitely on the schedule of blogging when I want to.

I think in the end, though I’m glad that I do blog because it’s just my techno journal, and I like having some kind of record. I’ve been debating printing it out and putting it in a binder so it’s on the shelf. Of course, it is just for ME. LOL

    Glad you’re back!

I’m so glad your back! You do have a way with words…many of your posts put a smile on my face. I enjoy your wit and wisdom.

It’s nice to see you back. I’ve been checking, waiting for your short hiatus to end.

Repeat this mantra: “I blog for ME.” I also don’t understand how some people’s blogs turn into message boards. I’m excited when I get more than 4 comments. Honestly, though, it’s just a way for me to write in a journal by typing (longhand makes me feel like I have arthritis) and I can easily add pictures.

Can’t wait to read what you’re up to!

HOORAY! I almost didn’t check it today for fear of seeing the “Off the Grid” post staring at me again. I’m SO glad you’re back.
Trust me, one day your children will cherish these blog entries. So do it for them if for no other reason. (Oh, except the rest of us love you, and your blog, so do it for us too.:-))

Hehe. You said “cloying.” That was my favorite word of the week on “The Next Food Network Star.”

    And…

    Hooray!

    Tenth comment!

    There. You’ve reached double digits!!!

Of course, it was a worthless comment from an inane driveler, but BASK in the double digits anyway, ok?
